A direct replacement clutch cable from the MTX Parts range, made to suit the Yamaha TTR230. It's the straightforward fix when the original cable has stretched, frayed or gone stiff, and clutch action at the lever no longer feels smooth.
MTX builds its cables to meet or exceed OEM specifications, using an inner nylon sleeve for a light, consistent pull and a black vinyl outer housing that shields the cable from dirt, water and abrasion. Suited to trail and recreational riders keeping a TTR230 serviceable, as well as workshops needing a dependable off-the-shelf replacement.

- Check the part number and compare the new cable against the old one for length and end-fitting shape before installation.
- Route the cable along the same path as the original, keeping bends gentle — tight kinks cause heavy lever feel and premature failure.
- Keep the cable clear of the exhaust, steering stops and any pinch points, and check clutch free play through the full steering lock in both directions.
- Set lever free play using the adjuster at the lever and, where fitted, the adjuster at the engine end, following the free play specification in your TTR230 service manual.
- Re-check free play after the first ride or two, as a new cable will settle slightly.
- Inspect the cable regularly for frayed strands, splits in the vinyl housing or a stiff, notchy pull, and replace it rather than persisting with a damaged cable.
- After wet or muddy rides, rinse mud away from the cable ends and let it dry to keep grit out of the housing.
- Avoid pressure-washing directly at the cable ends or lever perch, which can force water and grit inside the housing.
- Store spare cables coiled loosely in a cool, dry place; don't hang weight on them or fold them tightly.
