Motul Gear Competition 75W-140 is a 100% synthetic gear oil built on Motul's Ester-Technology and aimed at competition and hard-use drivetrains. It is formulated for hypoid differentials with a limited slip system, gearboxes with an integrated limited slip differential, mechanical transmissions, synchronised and non-synchronised gearboxes, and transfer gearboxes.
It suits transmissions working under shock loading and heavy loads at low revolution speeds, as well as moderate loads at high revolution speeds. The heavier 140 grade at operating temperature is intended to hold an oil film when things get hot and can help reduce transmission noise, while the oil stays fluid when cold for easier gear changes on a cold start.
Always check your vehicle manufacturer's specification and recommended viscosity before use.

- Check your vehicle or machine manufacturer's handbook for the specified gear oil viscosity, performance level and fill capacity before use, and only use this oil where 75W-140 is suitable.
- Confirm suitability for your limited slip differential — some LSD units require a specific friction modifier; follow the manufacturer's guidance.
- Drain the gearbox or differential when the oil is warm so it flows out freely and carries contaminants with it, then refit and torque the drain plug with a new sealing washer where required.
- Fill to the level specified by the vehicle manufacturer, using a pump or flexible filler tube for side-fill housings.
- Check for leaks around drain and fill plugs and seals after the first ride or drive following a change.
- Avoid mixing with other gear oils where possible; topping up with a different product can dilute the intended performance.
- Keep the bottle sealed and store upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, away from ignition sources and out of reach of children and animals.
- Avoid prolonged skin contact — wear nitrile gloves, and wash off any splashes with soap and water.
- Do not pour used oil down drains or into the ground; take it to a council or workshop used-oil collection point for recycling.
- Replace at the service interval nominated by your vehicle manufacturer, and change more often after competition use, water crossings or if the oil looks milky or smells burnt.
