- Before fitting, lightly dust the tube with talcum powder to prevent it sticking to the inside of the tyre and to ease installation.
- Partially inflate the tube before inserting it into the tyre to give it shape and prevent pinching during fitment.
- Ensure the valve stem is seated correctly through the rim hole and the nut is finger-tight before fully seating the tyre bead.
- Use tyre levers carefully — avoid pinching the tube between the lever and the rim, as this is the most common cause of puncture on installation.
- After fitting, inflate gradually and check that the tyre bead is seated evenly around the entire rim before inflating to the recommended pressure for your tyre and application.
- Check tyre pressure regularly; under-inflation increases the risk of pinch flats (snakebite punctures), particularly on rough terrain.
- Inspect the tube whenever the tyre is removed; look for chafing, cracking, or valve stem deterioration and replace if damaged.
- Store unused tubes away from direct sunlight, ozone sources (electric motors, fluorescent lights), and extreme heat, which degrade rubber over time.
