The Metzeler Sportec M9 RR is a supersport road tyre built for riders who want track-derived grip that still behaves on everyday roads. This listing covers the 110/70R17 54H tubeless front fitment, suited to smaller-capacity sportbikes, supersport machines and naked bikes running that size.

Its defining trait is the full-silica compound layout, which comes up to temperature quickly and holds grip when the tarmac is cold, patchy or wet. A sharp central contact band and directional grooves clear standing water, while slick shoulders keep a continuous rubber footprint at full lean.

A strong carcass built with Metzeler's chord technology gives the tyre a quick, predictable response to steering inputs without making it nervous, so the handling stays relaxed on longer rides. Supplied as a single front tyre; fitting and balancing are not included.

  • Supersport front tyre in 110/70R17 with 54H load and speed rating
  • Tubeless (TL) radial construction for 17-inch rims
  • Full-silica compound technology for fast warm-up and wet-weather grip
  • Cap&Base dual-compound layout: softer shoulder rubber over a harder base for consistency and thermal balance
  • Slick shoulders give a continuous compound footprint at full lean
  • Narrow slick centre stripe cuts through standing water
  • Directional centre grooves for straight-line stability at speed
  • Mid-lean groove layout for water drainage, cornering feedback and even wear
  • Chord technology carcass allows more structural rubber without adding stiffness
  • Extends mileage by more than 10% compared with the Metzeler Sportec M7 RR
  • 1 x Metzeler Sportec M9 RR 110/70R17 54H TL front tyre

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician — this is a tubeless radial and must be fitted to a rim rated for tubeless use in the correct size.
  • The tread is directional: check that the rotation arrow on the sidewall matches the wheel's direction of travel before the wheel goes back on.
  • Scrub in the new tyre before hard riding. Build lean angle and throttle progressively over the first ride so the mould release finish wears off and the surface keys in.
  • Check pressures cold, before riding, and set them to the pressure specified by your motorcycle manufacturer for the load you are carrying. Recheck at least fortnightly, as tyres lose pressure over time.
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, embedded stones, bulges, uneven wear and sidewall damage; replace the tyre if the tread has worn to the wear indicators or the carcass is damaged.
  • Respect the 54H load and speed rating stamped on the sidewall, and do not exceed your bike's recommended load.
  • In the wet, allow more warm-up before pushing on — the full-silica compound comes up to temperature quickly, but cold, damp tarmac still reduces available grip.
  • Keep tyres out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from petrol, oils, solvents and electric motors (which generate ozone). Clean with mild soap and water only; avoid tyre dressings or silicone shine products on the tread.
  • If the bike is stored for long periods, use a stand to take weight off the wheels or move the bike periodically to avoid flat-spotting.
  • Do not attempt a permanent repair on a damaged supersport tyre yourself; have any puncture assessed professionally and replace the tyre if a repair is not appropriate.
