The Metzeler Racetec TD Slick is a track-day slick built for riders who want racing-level grip without the complications of a full race programme. This is the 200/55 R17 rear, tubeless and marked NHS (Not for Highway Service) — it is intended for closed-circuit use only, not for road riding.
Its defining trait is that it works straight away. A low-Tg polymer compound warms up very quickly, so you can commit from the first corner without tyre warmers, and the uniform thermal behaviour keeps performance consistent across multiple sessions rather than dropping off after a handful of laps. The single-ply, pure radial casing stays close to OE tyre geometry, so the transition from your road-legal sports rubber needs little or no change to bike set-up.
Suits track-day riders, ride-day coaches and club-level racers running standard 200/55 R17 rear fitment.

- Track and closed-circuit use only — this tyre is marked NHS (Not for Highway Service) and is not intended or legal for road use.
- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician onto a sound tubeless-rated 17-inch rim; fit a new valve at the same time as good practice.
- It is a tubeless tyre — do not fit an inner tube unless the tyre and rim combination is specified for it.
- Set cold inflation pressures to the pressures recommended for your bike and circuit, and check them cold before every session rather than when hot.
- Warmers are not required, but still use the out-lap to build lean angle and temperature progressively rather than pushing from a standing start.
- Being a slick, it has no water-clearing grooves — do not use it on a wet or damp track.
- The rear is fully reversible: once one shoulder is worn at a circuit with a dominant direction, have the tyre demounted and refitted the other way around to use the remaining rubber.
- Inspect after every session for cuts, punctures, blistering, tearing, uneven wear or exposed cords, and retire the tyre if any are found.
- Store in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any contact with fuels, oils or solvents.
- Do not apply tyre dressings, silicone sprays or cleaning chemicals to the tread surface; clean only the sidewalls if needed, with mild soapy water.
