The Metzeler Racetec TD Slick is a purpose-built track-day tyre designed for rear fitment on sport and superbike-class motorcycles running 17-inch rims. Carrying a Not for Highway Service (NHS) designation, it is intended exclusively for closed-circuit use and is not road legal.
The full slick profile — with no tread grooves — delivers maximum contact patch under track conditions when paired with proper warm-up procedures. - This tyre carries a Not for Highway Service (NHS) rating — it must not be fitted to a motorcycle operated on public roads under any circumstances.
- Tyre warmers are strongly recommended before track sessions; if warmers are unavailable, complete several progressive warm-up laps before riding at full pace.
- Inspect the tyre before every session for cuts, embedded debris, flat spots, blistering or abnormal wear patterns.
- Set tyre pressures according to the guidance of your chassis technician or event organisers — optimum pressures vary by track, ambient temperature, motorcycle setup and riding style; do not use road-tyre pressure figures.
- Do not use this slick tyre in wet or mixed-condition sessions; fit appropriate wet-weather rubber if conditions change.
- After each session, allow the tyre to cool fully before storage; avoid fully deflating the tyre during storage as maintaining some pressure helps preserve carcass shape.
- Store in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight, UV sources, ozone-generating equipment (electric motors, generators, compressors) and petroleum-based products.
- Do not pair this slick with a road or rain tyre on the same motorcycle during a session.
- Retire the tyre when the carcass or sidewall shows cracking, deformation, heat blistering, or wear that a competent technician assesses as below minimum safe limits.
