The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra is a white wall front tyre in MH90-21 54H tubeless, developed in Germany for American V-twin machines and built around one clear priority: ultra-high mileage without giving up wet-weather composure. It suits big tourers, V-twin cruisers and custom builds running a 21-inch front wheel.
Metzeler's engineers combined the profile, carcass, tread pattern and compound to work as one. A flat, wide geometry channels the stresses generated in the contact patch out toward the sidewall, easing fatigue and slowing the wear process, while abrasion-resistant polymers in the compound extend tread life. The tread pattern is an evolution of the ME 880's, reworked to drain water effectively and wear evenly across its full width, with a high silica content adding chemical grip on damp roads.
The result is a tyre that holds its manners as it wears — stable at both low and highway speeds, with smooth, predictable handling from new through to the end of its life — finished with a classic white wall for cruiser and touring styling.

- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician — as a tubeless (TL) tyre it must be mounted to a rim in sound, tubeless-compatible condition with a serviceable valve.
- Check that MH90-21 54H matches the fitment and load/speed requirements specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or placard before fitting.
- Observe any rotation direction arrow and fitting markings on the sidewall when mounting.
- Ride gently for the initial running-in period so the release agents wear off and the surface scrubs in evenly — avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until the tread has been scuffed across its full width.
- Set and check pressures cold, using the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer, and re-check regularly — under-inflation accelerates wear and harms handling.
- Clean the white wall with mild soap and water and a soft brush or cloth; avoid solvents, petrol-based cleaners and silicone tyre shine products, which can discolour the white rubber and leave residue on the tread.
- Keep the tread free of oils, fuel and chain lube overspray, and rinse off road salt or heavy grime after wet rides.
- Inspect regularly for cuts, bulges, embedded stones or nails, uneven wear and sidewall damage, and have any suspect tyre assessed before riding.
- Replace the tyre once the tread reaches the wear indicators or the legal minimum tread depth for your state, and never exceed the tyre's rated load or speed capability.
- Store spare or seasonal tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and chemicals.
