The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra is a cruiser and touring tyre built around one priority: covering long distances safely without chewing through tread. This is the 130/80 B 17 M/C 65H front fitment with a white wall sidewall, tubeless, suited to cruisers, baggers, tourers and their custom builds.

Developed in Germany for American V-twin machines, the ME 888 pairs a flat, wide profile with an abrasion-resistant compound so it holds its shape and its manners as the kilometres add up. Riders get consistent behaviour through the life of the tyre, with stable, predictable handling at both low speed and highway pace.

A tread pattern evolved from the long-serving ME 880 clears water effectively, while a high silica content in the compound adds chemical grip on wet roads — useful when a touring day runs longer than the weather forecast.

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician — this is a tubeless (TL) tyre and must be fitted to a rim rated for tubeless use.
Observe the direction-of-rotation arrow moulded into the sidewall when fitting, and fit as a front tyre only.
Ride gently for the initial run-in period on a new tyre; the surface releases its mould finish and full grip is only available once the tread has scrubbed in, so avoid hard braking, sharp lean angles and aggressive throttle at first.
Check and adjust inflation pressures when the tyre is cold, using the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer for the load you are carrying — under-inflation is the fastest way to lose the mileage this tyre is designed to deliver.
Re-check pressures before long touring runs and whenever the bike is loaded with a pillion or luggage.
Inspect regularly for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, uneven or cupped wear and sidewall damage; have anything suspect assessed before riding.
Monitor the tread wear indicators and replace the tyre before it reaches the legal minimum tread depth in your state.
Clean the white wall with mild soap and warm water and a soft brush; avoid petroleum-based cleaners, harsh solvents and abrasive pads, which can stain or degrade the white rubber.
Do not apply tyre shine, dressings or silicone products to the tread surface.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any fuels, oils or solvents.
