The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra is a custom touring tyre built for riders who cover long distances on cruisers, tourers and custom V-twins. This is the 140/90 B 16 77H rear fitment in tubeless form, sold individually.

Metzeler's brief for the ME 888 was mileage without giving up composure: a flat, wide profile that spreads load through to the sidewall, a stiffened tread design that keeps wear even across the whole contact patch, and an abrasion-resistant compound carrying a high silica content for chemical grip on damp and wet roads. The tread pattern is an evolution of the long-running ME 880, reworked for better water evacuation and more uniform wear.

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician; tubeless fitment requires a sound, compatible tubeless rim with an undamaged sealing bead seat and a serviceable valve.
Match the sidewall direction-of-rotation marking to the wheel's forward direction when mounting.
Scrub new tyres in gradually — ride gently and avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the fresh tread surface has worn in.
Check and set cold inflation pressures regularly using the figures in your motorcycle's owner's manual or placard; do not set pressures on a warm tyre.
Do not exceed the load or speed capability shown by the 77H marking on the sidewall, and keep within your motorcycle manufacturer's load limits.
Inspect the tyre before rides for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, uneven wear and tread depth, and have any damage assessed before riding on.
Allow extra caution in the wet and on cold roads until the tyre is up to working temperature, particularly on painted lines and tram tracks.
Keep petrol, oils, solvents and chain lube off the tread and sidewalls, and wash with mild soap and water only.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, electric motors and ozone sources.
