The Metzeler Karoo 4 is the successor to the long-serving Karoo 3, built for adventure and maxi-enduro machines that spend real time off the bitumen. This is the 90/90-21 54T front in tubeless form, carrying the M+S marking and the (B) code that identifies it as the version listed for the BMW F900GS MY24.

Its scoop-shaped, transversally arranged knobs are shaped to rake through soft and bottomless dirt while clearing themselves of mud, and the knob layout is designed to keep supporting the bike as lean angle builds on hard-packed surfaces. Metzeler's DETRATEC™ and DYMATEC™ tread technologies target traction and even wear, while a multi-pitch knob sequence and an optimised footprint keep things reasonably smooth and predictable on sealed roads.

Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using proper equipment — incorrect fitting can damage the bead and carcass.
Mount the tyre so it turns in the direction shown by the rotation marking on the sidewall; front and rear patterns are not interchangeable.
This is a tubeless (T/L) tyre — fit it only to a rim rated for tubeless use, and on tube-type spoked rims use a suitable inner tube as advised by your fitter.
Ride conservatively for the first rides so the new tread beds in and the mould release finish wears off; avoid hard braking, hard drive and full lean angles until then.
Check pressures cold, before riding, using the pressures specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or placard, and never bleed pressure from a hot tyre.
If you drop pressures for off-road sections, keep speeds moderate and reset to the on-road pressures before returning to sealed roads.
After off-road riding, wash mud off with water and a mild detergent, clear stones and debris from between the knobs, and inspect for cuts, splits or torn knobs.
Keep petrol, oils, solvents and silicone tyre-shine products off the tread and sidewalls.
Store unmounted tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from electric motors and other ozone sources.
Replace the tyre once the tread wear indicators are reached or tread depth falls below the legal minimum in your state, and have any puncture, impact or irregular wear assessed by a professional before further use.
