The Motobatt Pro Lithium MLX4U-HP is a high-performance 12V lithium starting battery built as a direct upgrade path from small-case lead-acid batteries. It weighs around a third of a comparable lead-acid unit yet delivers stronger cranking current, which makes it a popular choice for race bikes, track machines and lightweight road and off-road motorcycles where every kilogram counts.
Very low idle self-discharge means the battery can hold useful charge after more than a year sitting idle, and it recharges quickly compared with lead-acid. Motobatt rates the Pro Lithium range at over 2000 cycles, against roughly 500 for a typical lead-acid battery. The HP-Series adds Motobatt's Protection Circuit Board alongside their Cell Balancing Circuit for closer control of charge and discharge.
Important: this is a dedicated starting battery. It is not suited to bikes with a constant parasitic drain such as heated grips, alarms or clocks, and it must only be charged with a lithium-compatible charger.

- Only ever charge with a charger designed for lithium motorcycle batteries — using a lead-acid or desulphating charger will void the warranty and can damage the battery.
- Motobatt recommends Tech 1 or Fat Boy chargers to maintain the battery and get the best performance and service life.
- Do not fit to a motorcycle with a constant parasitic drain (alarms, clocks, heated grips, accessory sockets); this is a starting battery only.
- If the bike is left standing, disconnect the battery or check the voltage periodically rather than leaving accessories drawing on it.
- Use the supplied EVA spacer to pack the battery out to 107mm case height where the tray is sized for a taller battery, so the unit cannot move or vibrate in the tray.
- Check terminal bolts are clean and correctly torqued at fitment, and make sure terminals cannot contact the frame or seat base.
- A battery run flat below 10V can generally be recovered on a lithium charger, but repeated or aggressive deep discharging will reduce capacity and rechargeability.
- Store off the bike in a cool, dry place; the low self-discharge rate means it will hold charge over long layups, but check and top up the charge before returning to service.
- Keep the case dry and free of fuel, solvents and cleaning chemicals — wipe with a damp cloth only.
- Do not open, puncture, drop or expose the battery to fire or extreme heat; replace it if the case is cracked, swollen or damaged.
