  • Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and a mild soap solution; never use petroleum-based solvents, abrasive pads or harsh chemicals, as these can degrade the shell finish and structural foam.
  • Clean the visor with warm water and a clean microfibre cloth, using light pressure to avoid fine scratches that reduce visibility.
  • If the interior liner and cheekpads are removable, hand-wash them in lukewarm water with mild detergent and allow them to air-dry completely before reinserting — do not machine-wash or tumble-dry.
  • Store the helmet in a fabric helmet bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours and extreme heat, all of which can degrade foam and shell materials over time.
  • Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even where no external damage is visible — internal foam does not recover after a hard strike.
  • Inspect the chin-strap buckle and webbing regularly for signs of fraying, cracking or corrosion; a damaged retention system should be serviced or replaced before the helmet is used again.
  • Do not apply paint, stickers, adhesives or chemical compounds to the outer shell unless the manufacturer has explicitly approved them, as these can compromise structural integrity.
  • As a general guide, helmet manufacturers recommend replacing helmets after five years of use regardless of condition, due to gradual material degradation.
