Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; never use solvents, petrol or abrasive cleaners as these can degrade the shell and finish.
Clean the visor with a damp microfibre cloth; avoid dry-wiping, which can cause fine scratches.
If the interior liner is removable, hand-wash it in cool water with mild detergent and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting — never use a tumble dryer or direct heat.
Inspect the chin strap and buckle before each ride; retire the helmet if the retention system shows wear, fraying or damage.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even when no external damage is visible — internal foam absorbs energy on first strike and is not designed to recover.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel, solvents and high humidity, all of which degrade shell and foam materials over time.
As a general guideline, replace the helmet every five years from date of manufacture, or sooner if the shell, liner or retention system shows signs of deterioration.
