The Leatt ADV Intercom Freecom 4X by Cardo is a helmet-mounted Bluetooth communication kit built for riders who want to stay in touch with the group without taking a hand off the bars. It clips onto the helmet and connects up to four riders at a time over a range of up to 1.2 km, with a self-healing connection that re-establishes the link automatically if a rider drops out of range and comes back.
Operation is voice-led, so calls, intercom and music can be managed by talking rather than hunting for buttons with gloves on. Audio is handled by 40 mm JBL speakers, and the IP65-rated housing is made to keep working through rain and road spray.

- Charge the unit fully before the first ride, and top it up after long days out — battery life is rated at up to 13 hours of use.
- Use the over-the-air update function to keep the software current; no cables are needed, so check for updates periodically rather than only when something stops working.
- Mount the clip firmly to the helmet shell and position the 40 mm speakers directly over the ear pockets, as speaker placement has more effect on perceived volume than turning the volume up.
- The IP65 rating covers rain and road spray, not immersion — do not submerge the unit, and never clean it with a pressure washer or high-pressure hose.
- After wet or dusty rides, wipe the housing and mount with a soft damp cloth and allow it to dry fully before charging; keep the charging port free of grit and water.
- Avoid solvents, petrol, alcohol-based cleaners and helmet-visor chemicals on the unit, speakers or microphone.
- Use Natural Voice Operation to change modes while riding rather than reaching for buttons, and set up your intercom pairings before you set off.
- If a rider drops out of range, allow the self-healing connection to restore the link automatically instead of manually re-pairing.
- For long storage, remove the unit from the helmet, keep it somewhere cool and dry out of direct sunlight, and recharge it every few months so the battery is not left flat.
