- Ensure the replacement lever is the correct part for your specific model year and disc brake configuration before installation.
- Disconnect any brake cable or check hydraulic line routing before removing the old lever.
- Lubricate the lever pivot point with a light grease or chain lube during installation to prevent wear and sticking.
- Torque the pivot bolt to the manufacturer's specification for your motorcycle model — do not overtighten, which can restrict lever movement, or undertighten, which may cause the lever to shift under use.
- After installation, check full lever travel and confirm the brake engages and releases cleanly before riding.
- Periodically inspect the pivot area for dirt and moisture ingress, particularly after muddy or wet trail riding, and re-lubricate as needed.
- Replace the lever immediately if cracked, bent, or if pivot wear causes excessive play.
