- Always use the reminder cable (if included) or attach a visual reminder to the handlebars before parking, to avoid riding away with the lock engaged.
- Insert the lock through the brake disc rotor hole, clear of the disc surface, before engaging the mechanism.
- Periodically apply a small amount of graphite-based or PTFE lock lubricant to the keyhole and shackle to keep the mechanism operating smoothly — avoid oil-based lubricants that attract grit.
- Keep the keyhole cover closed when the lock is not in use to prevent dirt, moisture and road grime from entering the cylinder.
- Inspect the lock body and shackle regularly for signs of corrosion, cracking or damage; retire the lock if structural integrity is compromised.
- Store the lock in a dry environment when not in use to minimise corrosion on exposed metal surfaces.
