The Kryptonite New York Chain 1210 pairs a one-metre hardened manganese steel chain with an Evolution Series 4 disc lock, giving you one of Kryptonite's higher-rated security combinations for motorcycles and scooters. The chain threads through a wheel, swingarm or frame and around a ground anchor, pole or other immovable object, while the disc lock's 14mm shackle does the closing.

It suits riders parking on the street, in shared garages or at work where a bike is left unattended for long stretches and a lightweight lock simply isn't enough. A nylon sleeve covers the chain to help keep it off your paintwork and wheels.

Note: at 3.92kg this is a security-first setup rather than a lock you would carry under the seat every day.

Always lock through an immovable object such as a ground anchor, post or purpose-built rack rather than around the bike alone.
Keep the chain and lock body clear of the ground where possible — a lock resting on concrete is far easier to attack.
Slide the dust cover closed over the keyway whenever the lock is fastened to keep out dirt, grit and water.
Rinse off road salt, sand and mud, then dry the chain and lock body before storing; leaving them damp encourages surface rust.
Keep the nylon sleeve pulled over the chain and the hook-and-loop fasteners closed to protect wheels, rims and paintwork.
Use a lock-specific lubricant on the cylinder if the key becomes stiff, and work the key gently rather than forcing it.
Replace the battery in the lighted key fob when the LED dims — the fob is designed to be user-serviceable.
Store the spare keys away from the bike and record your key number so replacements can be ordered through the Kryptonite Key Safe Program.
Inspect the shackle, crossbar and chain links periodically for damage or tool marks, and retire the lock if any part is deformed.
