The Kenda K779 Gauntlet is an off-road knobby built for hard enduro, offered here in the wide 140/80-18 rear fitment. It is an FIM-approved, DOT-marked tube-type tyre, so it suits riders competing under FIM knobby regulations as well as trail and enduro bikes running an 18-inch rear wheel.
Kenda aims the Gauntlet at riders who want traction on rocks, roots and loose ground without chewing through a rear tyre in a weekend. The tread is deliberately open and aggressive so it keeps clearing itself in mud and loam, while the compound is tuned to hold onto grip over a reasonable service life.
Sold as a single tyre. Tube type — an inner tube is required and is not included.

- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre fitter — off-road knobbies are stiff and easily damaged by incorrect fitting technique.
- This is a tube-type tyre: it must be run with a suitable inner tube (and rim tape/rim lock as required by your wheel). A tube is not included.
- Check for a rotation arrow or direction marking moulded into the sidewall and fit the tyre accordingly.
- Ride with extra caution for the first ride on a new tyre until the moulding release agent has worn off the knob surfaces and the tyre has scrubbed in.
- Set pressures to the recommendation for your bike and riding conditions, and check them cold before each ride — off-road tyres are usually run at low pressures and lose grip and casing support quickly if underinflated or overinflated.
- After rocky or hard-pack rides, inspect for torn or missing knobs, cuts, punctures and bulges, and check the rim lock and valve stem alignment; a leaning valve stem indicates the tyre has slipped on the rim.
- Wash with water and mild soap only. Keep petrol, brake cleaner, chain lube, solvents and tyre-shine dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
- Store spare tyres flat or hanging in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and sharp objects.
- Replace once the knobs are rounded, torn or worn below a usable height, or if the casing, sidewall or bead is damaged — do not attempt to repair a damaged carcass.
