The Kenda K778 Knarly is an extreme enduro rear tyre built for riders who spend their time in rocks, roots, mud and steep technical terrain. The super-soft, flexible carcass lets the tyre conform to whatever it is climbing over, while the compound is formulated to hold traction in both wet and dry going.

This 140/80-18 size is a tube-type rear in a 4-ply rating with a 70R service description, and it carries F.I.M. approval for enduro competition along with a DOT marking. The knob pattern is reversible, so the same tyre can be run in either rotation direction to suit changing terrain or to make use of the remaining edge on part-worn knobs.

Best suited to hard and extreme enduro machines running an 18-inch rear wheel where outright grip matters more than tread life.

  • This is a tube-type tyre — fit a matching 18-inch heavy-duty inner tube and always use a new tube and rim tape when fitting.
  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified tyre fitter using proper levers and rim protectors; soft enduro carcasses are easy to pinch or damage during fitting.
  • Run a rim lock (or two) at the low pressures typical of enduro use to stop the tyre spinning on the rim and tearing the valve stem.
  • Check cold tyre pressure before every ride and follow your motorcycle manufacturer's recommended pressures; low pressures for grip come at the cost of pinch-flat risk.
  • The tread is reversible — the tyre can be refitted in the opposite rotation to suit terrain or to run fresh knob edges as the tyre wears.
  • Take it easy for the first few kilometres to let the release agent scrub off the new tread and to seat the tyre and tube evenly on the rim.
  • Inspect regularly for torn, chunked or missing knobs, cuts through to the casing, and sidewall damage; replace the tyre if the casing is exposed.
  • Store spare tyres flat or upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, fuels, oils and solvents.
  • Clean with water and mild detergent only — avoid tyre shine, solvents and dressings that can degrade the compound or reduce grip.
  • Do not exceed the tyre's load and speed ratings, and check local road-use rules, as this is a competition-oriented tread pattern.
