- Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soap solution; avoid petroleum-based solvents, acetone, or abrasive cleaners as these can damage the shell finish and graphic lacquer.
- Remove the face shield before cleaning; wipe it with a wet cloth or dedicated visor cleaner — never wipe a dry visor as dry-wiping causes micro-scratches that degrade optical clarity over time.
- To clean the Pinlock 30 insert, remove it carefully from the shield, wipe both contact faces with a clean damp cloth, and allow to dry fully before refitting — do not use paper towels or abrasive materials on the Pinlock lens.
- Unzip and remove the interior cheek pads and crown liner; hand-wash in cool or lukewarm water with mild detergent, rinse thoroughly, and air-dry completely before reinserting — do not tumble-dry or use direct heat.
- After any crash or significant impact, retire the helmet immediately even if no external damage is visible; the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber and may be compromised without obvious signs.
- Do not apply aftermarket stickers, paint, or chemical sprays to the shell without confirming compatibility with HJC — many adhesives and aerosols degrade APS shells and void any warranty.
- Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, petrol vapour, and extreme temperature fluctuations; UV exposure and hydrocarbon vapour both accelerate degradation of the shell and EPS liner.
- Check the ratchet buckle mechanism before each ride to confirm it latches and releases correctly; if any cracking, corrosion, or sluggish operation is noted, have the retention system inspected or replaced before further use.
