- Clean the outer shell with mild soap and lukewarm water using a soft cloth; avoid petrol, solvents, paint thinners or abrasive cleaners, which degrade the shell finish and graphics.
- Clean the HJ-26 visor with lukewarm water and a soft, damp cloth — never wipe a dry visor, as dust and grit will scratch the lens surface.
- Remove crown and cheek pads by releasing their press-stud or hook-and-loop fasteners and hand-wash in cool water with a mild detergent; allow pads to air-dry completely before reinstalling.
- If a Pinlock insert is fitted, clean it separately with the same gentle method; do not use alcohol-based or ammonia-based cleaners on the Pinlock lens as these cause hazing.
- Store the helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, UV sources, and fuel vapours — prolonged exposure to these degrades both the EPS liner and outer shell over time.
- Never set the helmet on a fuel tank where petrol spillage or fumes can make contact; even brief fuel exposure can compromise EPS integrity invisibly.
- Replace the helmet following any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible; the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber and its protective properties are not restored after compression.
- As a general guide, retire and replace the helmet no later than five years from the date of manufacture, regardless of apparent condition.
- Inspect the double D-ring retention system regularly for strap fraying or buckle deformation; confirm the chin strap fastens securely and cannot slip before every ride.
- To fit the HJC Smart HJC Bluetooth module, follow the Smart HJC installation instructions specific to the F70 shell — improper mounting can affect helmet integrity.
