  • Clean the outer shell and chin bar with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petrol-based solvents, abrasive cleaners, or aerosol sprays that can damage the polycarbonate shell or graphics.
  • Clean the visor with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water; never wipe a dry visor, as grit trapped on the surface will cause scratching.
  • To deploy the internal sun shield, use the dedicated lever on the side of the helmet; ensure the shield is fully retracted before removing the helmet from your head.
  • Remove the interior liner and cheek pads before washing; hand-wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and allow all components to air-dry completely before reinserting — do not use a tumble dryer.
  • Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible; the EPS liner compresses on impact and cannot recover its protective properties.
  • As a general guideline, replace the helmet every five years from the date of first use, or sooner if the interior foam or retention system shows signs of deterioration.
  • Store the helmet in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours, and exhaust fumes, all of which degrade polycarbonate and EPS foam over time.
  • Periodically check visor pivot screws and the visor locking mechanism to ensure they are secure and functioning correctly; replace any worn visor components through an authorised HJC dealer.
