- Fit the aluminium Hot Springs Heat Shield between the saddlebag and the exhaust or hot side panels before riding — the bag is not designed to sit directly against hot components.
- Roll the top closure down firmly and clip the buckles before every ride; an incompletely rolled closure will let water in.
- Balance the load evenly between the two 6-litre pockets so the bag sits square on the bike and does not sag against the wheel or exhaust.
- Cinch the aluminium thumb-buckle compression straps to remove slack, then re-check strap and Pronghorn Strap tension after the first few kilometres and periodically during long rides.
- Check that the coated fender hooks are seated securely on the fender or Tail Rack and are not fouling the wheel, chain or brake components.
- Rinse off mud, dust and grit with fresh water and wipe down with a soft cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents, petrol, degreasers and harsh chemicals that can damage the coated fabric and webbing.
- Allow the bag to air-dry fully with the roll-top open before storing, and store it dry and unrolled in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
- Inspect the webbing, stitching, buckles and Pronghorn Straps regularly for abrasion, cuts or UV damage, and replace worn straps rather than riding with compromised attachment points.
- Do not overload beyond the rated 12-litre capacity, and pack sharp tools and tyre levers wrapped or padded to protect the bag's interior.
