- Clean the exterior with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners that can damage the ABS shell or smoke lid.
- Do not use high-pressure washers directly on the lock mechanism or lid seal.
- Lubricate the lock cylinder occasionally with a dry or PTFE-based lubricant; avoid oil-based lubricants that attract dirt.
- Inspect the lid gasket/seal periodically for cracks or deformation and replace if the case is no longer weatherproof.
- Check that the Monokey locking levers engage fully with the plate before riding — give the case a firm tug to confirm it is locked down.
- Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended load capacity; overloading can stress the mounting plate and affect motorcycle handling.
- Store the case with the lid slightly ajar if storing long-term, to prevent the seal from taking a permanent set.
- Do not leave the case in direct sunlight for extended periods when not in use, as prolonged UV exposure can degrade the ABS and smoke lid over time.
