The Givi TNH1171 is a model-specific upper engine guard built for the Honda CB500X from 2019 onwards. It mounts high on the bike to shield the upper section of the radiators, the area most exposed in a low-speed tip-over or car park drop.

Made from 25 mm diameter steel tube with a black finish, it suits CB500X riders who commute, tour or ride light gravel and want added protection without changing the look of the bike. Because the bars carry impact loads through the frame, Givi recommends fitting by a qualified mechanic.

  • Have the bars fitted by a qualified mechanic — Givi recommends professional installation, as the guard transfers impact loads into the bike's frame mounting points.
  • Follow the fitting instructions supplied with the kit and use the specified hardware; do not substitute fasteners.
  • Re-check all mounting bolts after the first 100–200 km of riding, then at regular service intervals, as bolts can settle and loosen with vibration.
  • After fitting, check clearance around the fairings, radiator, hoses, cables and wiring, and confirm the handlebars turn lock to lock without contact.
  • Wash with warm water and a mild detergent, then dry thoroughly; avoid harsh solvents, degreasers and abrasive pads that can damage the black finish.
  • Touch up any paint chips or scratches promptly to stop surface corrosion taking hold, particularly if you ride in coastal or wet conditions.
  • Inspect the bars and their mounts after any drop or impact — replace bent, cracked or deformed bars and check the frame mounting points before riding again.
  • Do not use the crash bars as a lifting point, tie-down anchor or mount for accessories unless the accessory is specified for this guard.
  • Note that this is an upper guard covering the top radiator area only; it is not a substitute for lower engine or bash protection.
