The FMF PowerCore 2 Shorty is a bolt-on replacement silencer for 125–150cc two-stroke motocross machines. It takes the proven PowerCore 2 design and shortens the inner core, pairing it with an aluminium canister to produce a tuned power delivery rather than simply a louder pipe.

The shorter core concentrates the gains where a small-bore two-stroke needs them most — bottom and mid-range rpm — which suits tight, technical circuits and supercross-style tracks where drive out of corners matters more than top-end overrev. It fits in place of the standard silencer on the listed KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas models.

Note: this item is listed by FMF under part number 025259. Some retail listings shorten the name to “PowerCore Shorty”; the product is the same PowerCore 2 Shorty silencer.

Confirm your make, model and year against the fitment list before installing — this silencer is designed to bolt on in place of the standard unit on the listed 125–150cc two-stroke models.
Fit with the exhaust springs and mounting hardware from your standard silencer, and check that the silencer-to-expansion-chamber joint seats fully and squarely before tightening.
Re-check the mounting bolts and exhaust springs after the first ride, then as part of your regular pre-ride check — vibration and heat cycling can loosen fasteners.
Allow the silencer to cool completely before handling, washing or working on it.
Repack the silencer when it starts to sound noticeably louder or the bottom-end response goes flat; worn-out packing lets exhaust noise and power delivery drift away from the tune it was built around.
When washing the bike, plug the outlet so water can't enter the core, and avoid aiming a pressure washer directly into the tailpipe or at the end caps and rivets.
After washing, remove the plug and run the engine briefly to clear any moisture from the packing before storage.
Clean the aluminium canister with mild soap, water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives, harsh solvents and caustic wheel cleaners, which can stain or dull the aluminium.
Inspect the canister, end caps and rivets for dents, cracks or impact damage after a crash — a distorted core affects both flow and the intended power curve.
