The FMF Powercore 2 is a direct bolt-on replacement silencer for the Yamaha YZ125 (2002-2021) and YZ125X (2020-2022). It pairs a lightweight extruded aluminium oval canister with a perforated core, and finishes the ends in stainless steel for durability where heat, roost and crash damage take their toll.

It suits two-stroke riders who want a straightforward performance silencer for motocross and off-road use - whether you are replacing a dented or blown-out original, or matching a new silencer to an aftermarket pipe. The packing is serviceable, so the canister can be repacked rather than replaced as it ages.

FMF part number 24009. Intended for closed-course competition and off-road use; check local noise and road-use requirements before riding.

  • Fit the silencer with the machine cold, using the standard mounting hardware and a fresh exhaust seal at the pipe joint; check that the canister sits clear of the subframe, plastics and rear guard before riding.
  • Re-check the mounting bolts and springs after the first ride and at regular intervals afterwards - vibration and heat cycling will loosen fasteners over time.
  • Allow the silencer to cool fully before washing or handling; spraying cold water onto hot aluminium is hard on the finish and the packing.
  • Block the outlet with an exhaust plug when washing so water cannot enter the core, and start the bike afterwards to clear any moisture.
  • Clean the aluminium canister with mild detergent, water and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh solvents, oven cleaner, acidic wheel cleaners and abrasive pads, which will dull the extruded finish.
  • Keep the stainless end cap and front stinger free of caked-on premix residue; wipe them down while soft rather than scraping once baked on.
  • Repack the silencer when the exhaust note deepens or becomes noticeably louder, when spooge appears at the end cap, or when top-end pull flattens off. Packing is a consumable and burns out faster with high-oil premix ratios and long sessions at full noise.
  • Never run the silencer with the packing burnt out or removed - it hurts performance, raises noise output and can damage the perforated core.
  • Inspect the canister after any crash. A dented or crushed body restricts flow, and a bent stinger will not seal properly at the pipe.
  • Store the bike with the silencer dry and, for long layups, plug the outlet to keep moisture and pests out of the core.
