- Clean the outer shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners that can degrade the finish or foam liner.
- Remove the interior liner and cheek pads before washing them by hand in cool water with mild detergent; allow to air dry fully before refitting.
- Clean the visor/peak with a damp cloth — do not wipe dry, as grit trapped on the surface can scratch the material.
- Inspect the retention system (chin strap and buckle) regularly for wear, fraying, or loss of function and replace if compromised.
- Check the peak/visor mounting screws periodically; re-tighten if loose to prevent the visor flexing or detaching at speed.
- Avoid storing the helmet in direct sunlight, near fuel, or in high-heat environments such as a closed vehicle on a hot day, as UV exposure and heat accelerate EPS liner degradation.
- Store in a breathable helmet bag away from sharp objects that can scratch the shell or distort internal padding.
- Replace the helmet after any impact, even if external damage is not obvious — the EPS liner is a single-use energy absorber.
- As a general guideline, replace the helmet every five years from the date of manufacture regardless of visible condition, or follow the manufacturer's recommendation if stated.
