  • Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; never use petroleum-based solvents, paint thinners, acetone or abrasive cleaners, as these can degrade the shell finish and structural integrity.
  • Clean the visor with a dedicated visor cleaner or mild soapy water and a soft cloth; avoid paper towels or dry wiping, which can introduce fine scratches.
  • Replace a scratched or heavily marked visor promptly — impaired optical clarity is a genuine riding hazard.
  • Inspect the chin strap and buckle before each ride for signs of fraying, corrosion or wear; do not use the helmet if the retention system is compromised.
  • Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even where no external damage is visible — EPS foam absorbs energy by permanently deforming and will not protect adequately in a subsequent impact.
  • Do not store the helmet in direct sunlight, near petrol fumes or in high-heat environments such as a car boot; UV exposure and hydrocarbon vapours degrade both the shell material and foam liner over time.
  • Do not hang the helmet by its visor mechanism, as sustained stress on the pivot points can cause premature failure.
  • As a general guideline, manufacturers recommend replacing motorcycle helmets every five years from the date of manufacture, regardless of visible condition.
