- Before fitting, verify the chain length suits your specific model — 120 links is a common starting point but may need shortening depending on sprocket sizes and swingarm position.
- Use a quality motorcycle-specific chain lube after installation; apply to the inner side of the chain (roller contact area) and allow to penetrate before riding.
- Clean the chain regularly with a dedicated chain cleaner and a soft brush — avoid high-pressure washers directed at the chain, as these can displace lubricant from inside the links.
- Check and adjust chain tension at the intervals specified in your motorcycle's service manual; incorrect tension accelerates wear on both the chain and sprockets.
- Inspect the chain before each track session for signs of tight links, corrosion, or damage; replace immediately if any are found.
- Store the chain in a dry environment if removed from the bike; lightly coat with chain lube before storage to prevent corrosion.
- Replace the chain and sprockets as a set — fitting a new chain to worn sprockets significantly reduces service life.
