The EK 520 QX-Ring clip link is a single connecting link for joining 520 pitch EK chains. It uses the same QX-Ring sealing as EK's sealed 520 chains and is supplied as the standard joining link with many of the brand's motocross and off-road chains.
Clip-style links are the quick, workshop-friendly option: the link is closed with a spring clip rather than a rivet, so a pair of standard pliers is all that is needed and no chain riveting tool is required. That makes it a practical choice for single-cylinder off-road and trail bikes, and for riders who fit and remove chains regularly.
EK has redesigned the link plate so it takes more pressure to press onto the connecting pins, giving a tighter interference fit on assembly. Sold as one link.

- Check the link matches your chain before fitting — it suits 520 pitch QX-Ring chains only, and must be the same pitch and series as the chain it joins.
- Fit the QX-Rings to the pins and the outer plate in the order they were supplied, and keep them lightly oiled so they seat without pinching or rolling.
- The redesigned outer plate is a firm press fit, so expect to apply real pressure to push it onto the pins before the clip groove is exposed.
- Install the spring clip with its closed (rounded) end facing the direction of chain travel on the top run, so the chain cannot flick it off.
- After fitting, confirm the clip is fully seated in both pin grooves and that the joined link flexes as freely as the links either side — a link that binds has been pressed on too far.
- Re-check the clip and chain tension after the first ride, then at your normal chain service intervals, and set slack to the figure in your bike's owner's manual.
- Clean with a chain-safe cleaner and a soft brush; avoid petrol, harsh solvents, high-pressure washing or wire brushes, which damage the QX-Ring seals.
- Lubricate the joined link along with the rest of the chain after cleaning and after wet rides, and wipe away excess.
- Treat the clip and link as single-use — fit a new one rather than reusing a clip that has been removed, splayed or distorted.
- Store spare links in their packaging in a dry place, and keep them lightly oiled to prevent surface corrosion.
