  • Check that the joint you are clamping measures 51mm (2") in outside diameter before fitting.
  • Fit the clamp over a clean joint — remove old carbon, rust and exhaust sealant residue so the band seats evenly.
  • Position the cross bolt where it clears the frame, swingarm and bodywork, and where a spanner can reach it for future removal.
  • Tighten the cross bolt evenly until the joint is secure; do not overtighten, as excessive force can distort the band or strip the thread.
  • Re-check tightness after the first heat cycle or short ride, as exhaust joints commonly settle once they have been up to temperature.
  • Apply an anti-seize compound to the bolt threads on assembly to make later removal easier, especially on bikes ridden in wet or coastal conditions.
  • Clean the chrome with a soft damp cloth and a mild chrome or metal polish; avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents that will scratch or dull the plating.
  • Inspect periodically for rust spots, cracks or a stretched band, and replace the clamp rather than re-tensioning a damaged one.
  • Do not use the clamp to pull a poorly aligned joint together — align the pipes first, then clamp.
