- Confirm the existing chain is a 428-pitch D-series before fitting this link — using an incompatible link is a safety risk.
- Ensure both inner and outer plates are fully seated on the link pins before fitting the retaining clip.
- Install the retaining clip with its closed end facing the direction of chain travel; this prevents the clip from being displaced during operation.
- Apply a small amount of chain lubricant to the link pins and rollers immediately after installation.
- This is a single-use consumable: once removed from service, discard and replace with a new link rather than re-using the original.
- Inspect the clip and side plates at every chain service interval for deformation, cracking, corrosion or loosening; replace at the first sign of any defect.
- Store unused links in a dry location away from moisture and corrosive chemicals to prevent pre-installation corrosion.
