- Disconnect the motorcycle battery before starting the installation, and reconnect only once all connections are made and secured.
- Use the supplied wiring harness rather than wiring the horn directly into the standard horn circuit — the air horn compressor draws more current than the factory disc horn.
- Mount the compressor so the air intake faces downward or sideways where practical, so water and road spray cannot collect inside it.
- Route the harness clear of the exhaust, steering stops, suspension travel and any moving linkages, and secure it with cable ties so it cannot chafe or snag.
- Check that the trumpet outlet stays clear of mud, grit and insect nests, particularly after off-road or gravel riding.
- Re-check the mounting bracket bolts and electrical connections periodically, and after any heavy corrugations or off-road use.
- Rinse road grime and salt off the horn with a gentle stream of water; avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at the compressor, trumpet outlet or connectors.
- Apply dielectric grease to the connectors if you ride regularly in wet or coastal conditions, and keep the earth point clean and free of corrosion.
- Give the horn a short test press before each ride in traffic so you know it is working, but avoid long continuous blasts, which heat the compressor unnecessarily.
