- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician; tubeless tyres must only be mounted on a rim rated for tubeless use.
- Observe the rotation direction and any fitting markings moulded into the sidewall when mounting.
- Replace or inspect the valve (and rim tape or seal where applicable) whenever a new tyre is fitted.
- Set and check cold inflation pressures to the figures specified by your motorcycle's manufacturer on the placard or in the owner's manual, and re-check at least fortnightly and before long rides.
- Thanks to the TractionSkin micro-rough tread surface, no release agents are left on the tyre and there is effectively no break-in period; even so, build up lean angle and speed progressively over the first rides while the tyre settles onto the rim and you get a feel for it.
- Inspect regularly for cuts, bulges, embedded stones or nails and uneven wear, and check remaining tread depth against the wear indicators and your state's legal minimum.
- Keep petrol, oils, solvents, brake fluid and tyre-shine dressings off the tread and sidewalls, as they can degrade the rubber; clean with mild soapy water and rinse.
- Do not mix radial and cross-ply tyres on the same motorcycle unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it, and match the front fitment to a compatible tyre.
- If the motorcycle is stored for long periods, keep it on stands or move it periodically to avoid flat-spotting, and store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from ozone sources such as electric motors.
- Retire a tyre after any impact damage, repeated pressure loss, or a puncture that cannot be repaired to the manufacturer's and repairer's standards.
