The SHAD D0RI40 is a passenger backrest pad made to fit SHAD SH29, SH33 and SH34 top cases. It gives your pillion something padded to lean against instead of the bare plastic of the case, which makes a noticeable difference on longer rides and in stop-start commuting.

Fitting is a bolt-on job, but it does require minor drilling of the top case. SHAD moulds the hole locations into the plastic, and they can be seen from underneath the lid, so the positions are marked out for you before you start.

This is the genuine SHAD accessory part, so it matches the shape and mounting points of the cases it is designed for.

  • Passenger backrest pad for SHAD SH29, SH33 and SH34 top cases
  • Padded cushion supports the pillion's lower back on longer rides
  • Genuine SHAD accessory, part number D0RI40
  • Mounting hole positions are moulded into the case plastic and visible from under the lid
  • Bolt-on fitment, with minor drilling of the top case required

  • Before drilling, remove the lid liner or open the case and identify the moulded hole positions on the underside of the lid; drill only at those marked points.
  • Work up to size with a sharp drill bit and support the plastic from behind to avoid cracking or splitting the case.
  • Clean the swarf out of the case and tidy the hole edges before fitting so nothing rattles loose or scratches the contents.
  • Tighten the fasteners firmly but do not overtighten — excessive torque can distort or crack the case lid.
  • After the first few rides, re-check the fasteners for tightness, then check them periodically as part of your normal luggage inspection.
  • Clean the pad and case with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth; avoid solvents, petrol-based cleaners and abrasive pads, which can damage the padding and the case plastic.
  • Do not aim a high-pressure washer directly at the pad or its mounting points.
  • Allow the pad to dry naturally after wet rides rather than using direct heat.
  • Check that the lid still opens and closes freely and that the lock engages properly once the backrest is fitted.
  • Where practical, store or park the bike under cover to limit UV exposure and prolong the appearance of the pad.
