Wipe the leather clean with a soft, damp cloth after each ride and use a soft brush to lift grit from the seams and welt; avoid solvents, petrol and harsh detergents, which strip the oils from full-grain leather.
Feed the oil-treated leather periodically with a leather conditioner, cream or wax suited to oiled full-grain hide - this keeps the upper supple and helps maintain its resistance to water.
After a wet ride, let the boots dry naturally at room temperature away from heaters, exhausts, direct sunlight and hair dryers; loosely stuffing them with newspaper helps them dry evenly and keep their shape.
Never machine wash or tumble dry the boots, and do not soak them - water sitting inside can affect the "High-Tex" membrane and the internal padding.
Keep the zipper free of dust and grit and run a little zip lubricant or wax along the teeth occasionally so it stays smooth; force on a dirty zip is the most common cause of failure.
Remove the gear pad for cleaning or if you prefer the boot without it, and refit it squarely before riding so it sits over the shift-lever contact area.
Allow a short break-in period - wear the boots around home for a few sessions so the leather moulds to your foot before a long ride.
Inspect the D3O-backed ankle cups, stitching and sole after any crash or heavy impact, and retire the boots if the protection, upper or sole is damaged.
Store in a cool, dry, ventilated place, upright and out of direct sunlight; boot trees or rolled paper prevent creasing at the ankle.
Check the rubber sole for wear and the heel for rounding, and have them resoled or replace the boots once grip or the tread edge is gone.
