- Inspect the air filter at the interval given in your Honda Pioneer 520 owner's manual, and more often after riding in dust, sand or mud.
- Before fitting, wipe out the airbox and check the sealing surfaces are clean, so unfiltered air cannot bypass the filter.
- Seat the filter squarely in its housing and confirm the airbox cover and fasteners are secure before starting the engine.
- Replace the filter if the media is torn, distorted, fuel or oil soaked, or if the sealing edge is damaged.
- Do not run the engine with the filter removed, and avoid high-pressure compressed air or solvents on the media.
- Reduced power, rough running or heavier fuel use can indicate a restricted filter, so check it before chasing other faults.
- Store spare filters flat in their packaging in a cool, dry place, away from fuel, solvents and direct sunlight.
