- Inspect chain tension and sprocket teeth condition at every service interval or every 500 km, whichever comes first.
- Adjust chain slack to the Honda VTR1000 Firestorm specification stated in the owner's manual before riding.
- Clean the chain with a dedicated chain cleaner and a soft brush; avoid petrol, WD-40, or high-pressure washers, which strip lubricant and can damage O/X-ring seals if present.
- Lubricate the chain immediately after cleaning while it is still warm from riding, applying lubricant to the inner side of the links as the wheel is turned slowly.
- Always replace the chain and both sprockets together as a set — fitting a new chain to worn sprockets (or vice versa) accelerates wear and reduces service life.
- Inspect front and rear sprocket teeth for hooking, sharpening, or uneven wear; replace if teeth profile deviates noticeably from new.
- Check the rear wheel alignment each time chain tension is adjusted to maintain straight-line tracking.
- Store the kit in a dry environment away from moisture and chemicals prior to installation to prevent surface corrosion.
