- Before installation, route the new cable along the same path as the original, ensuring there are no sharp bends, pinch points, or contact with hot engine components.
- After fitting, adjust clutch lever freeplay at the adjuster in accordance with the Honda XR250 owner's manual specification.
- Lubricate the cable periodically using a dedicated cable lubricant applied at the top of the outer sheath; avoid penetrating oils that can attract dirt.
- Inspect the cable ends (ferrules and nipples) regularly for cracking or corrosion, and replace if damage is found.
- Check that the cable moves freely through its full range of travel with the handlebars turned lock to lock; binding or tightening when steering indicates incorrect routing.
- Avoid kinking the cable during storage or transport, as a kinked inner wire will weaken and fail prematurely.
