Let the exhaust cool completely before handling, cleaning or removing it — the muffler and its mounts stay hot well after the engine is switched off.
Have the muffler fitted by a qualified mechanic if you are not confident working on exhaust hardware, and use the correct gaskets and clamps for your model.
Re-check the clamp and all mounting fasteners after the first ride, then periodically — exhaust fixings can loosen through heat cycling and vibration.
Clean the carbon sleeve with warm water and a mild automotive soap on a soft cloth; avoid abrasive pads, harsh wheel cleaners and solvents.
Wipe off fuel, brake fluid, chain lube and degreaser overspray promptly rather than letting them sit on the carbon or end cap.
Don't aim a pressure washer into the outlet or directly at joints; after washing, run the engine briefly to dry out any moisture inside the muffler.
Inspect the carbon periodically for cracks, delamination, heat damage or loose fixings, and stop using it if you find any.
