  • Soak new friction plates in clean engine oil for a minimum of 30 minutes before installation to prevent glazing on first use.
  • Inspect the clutch basket, inner hub, and pressure plate for grooves or uneven wear before fitting the new kit; replace worn components as required.
  • Install steel and friction plates in the correct alternating sequence as specified in the Kawasaki service manual for your model year.
  • Torque all fasteners to OEM specifications — do not rely on feel alone.
  • Bed in the new clutch by making a series of gradual, moderate clutch engagements before subjecting it to full-load or aggressive riding.
  • Check and adjust clutch lever freeplay after bedding in and re-check after the first few rides.
  • Inspect the clutch cable (or hydraulic line) for wear, kinks, or leaks each time the clutch is serviced.
  • Change the engine oil and filter immediately after clutch installation; metallic particles from bedding-in can contaminate the oil.
  • Store unused friction plates sealed in oil or in their original packaging to prevent the material from drying out.
