Replace the chain and both sprockets as a set — fitting a new chain to worn sprockets, or worn sprockets to a new chain, accelerates wear on both.
Have the kit fitted by a qualified mechanic if you are not equipped to rivet or fit the joining link correctly and check wheel alignment.
Set chain slack and rear wheel alignment to the figures in your Suzuki GSX650F service manual, and re-check slack after the first ride or two while the chain beds in.
Lubricate the chain regularly with a chain lubricant rated as safe for O-ring and X-ring chains, ideally while the chain is still warm after a ride.
Clean the chain with a dedicated chain cleaner or kerosene and a soft brush; avoid petrol, harsh solvents, wire brushes and high-pressure washers, which damage the X-ring seals.
Re-lubricate after riding in rain or washing the bike, and dry the chain before applying lubricant.
Inspect regularly for tight or kinked links, damaged rings, hooked or chipped sprocket teeth and loose sprocket fasteners; torque sprocket bolts and nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
If the chain cannot be adjusted within the swingarm's marked adjustment range, or shows uneven slack as the wheel rotates, replace the drive set rather than over-tightening it.
Store spare chain and sprockets in a dry place and keep the chain lightly oiled to prevent surface corrosion.
