Remove the old grips and thoroughly clean and degrease the left handlebar and the throttle tube before fitting — any oil or residue will stop the new grips holding.
Use a purpose-made grip adhesive or glue on both the bar and the throttle tube, then slide the grips fully home so the closed ends seat squarely against the bar ends.
Run lock wire through the recessed channels and twist it off neatly on the underside of the grip, keeping the twisted ends tucked away from your palms.
Allow the adhesive to cure fully (follow the glue manufacturer's instructions) before riding — riding on uncured grips is the most common cause of grips spinning.
Check the throttle snaps back freely and that neither grip rotates or slides before every ride.
Wash with mild soap and warm water and a soft brush to clear mud from the waffle pattern, then dry thoroughly; a clean waffle grips far better than a clogged one.
Avoid solvents, fuel, brake cleaner, silicone sprays and polishes on or near the grips — they degrade the compound and leave a slippery surface.
Replace the grips once the waffle pattern is worn flat, the compound hardens or splits, or the ends start to tear away, as worn grips reduce control.
Store spare grips in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight to keep the rubber supple.
