The Vance & Hines VO2 X is a bolt-on air intake for Harley-Davidson Softail models, finished in chrome. It replaces the standard air cleaner assembly with a high-capacity washable filter element behind a CNC machined billet cover, opening up airflow to the V-twin while giving the right-hand side of the bike a cleaner, more purposeful look.
It suits riders chasing a straightforward induction upgrade with a finished, showroom-style appearance rather than an exposed filter. The kit arrives as a complete assembly, so it is a practical first stage for a bike that is being built up with exhaust and fuelling changes.

- Fit the intake with the engine cool, following the instructions supplied in the kit; leave the breather assembly connected as designed rather than blocking or omitting it.
- Use the supplied ARP hardware and tighten fasteners evenly to the torque figures given in the fitting instructions — do not overtighten into the cylinder heads.
- Re-check the cover and mounting fasteners after the first ride, then periodically as part of routine servicing.
- Inspect the filter element at each service and any time you have ridden in dusty, wet or gravel conditions.
- Clean the washable element following the Vance & Hines instructions supplied with the kit, and allow it to dry completely before refitting — never fit a damp element.
- Do not run the engine without the filter element installed.
- Clean the chrome cover with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, then dry it off; avoid abrasives, solvents and harsh degreasers that can dull or lift the plating.
- After riding in heavy rain or washing the bike, check that no water has been driven into the intake and that the element is dry.
- If you are changing the intake alongside exhaust or other engine modifications, have the fuelling checked and set up by a qualified technician.
- Store any removed standard air cleaner components clean and dry in case you need to return the bike to standard.
