The Vance & Hines Shortshots Staggered is a full exhaust system for 2018–2022 Harley-Davidson Softail models, including the Fat Boy, Breakout and FXDR. Its short, staggered dual-outlet layout gives the bike a tighter, stripped-back profile, finished in chrome with full-coverage heat shields.
This version uses Vance & Hines PCX (Power Chamber Exhaust) technology with a chambered high-flow catalyst cartridge, designed to build torque low in the rev range for stronger pull away from a standstill, along with a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note.

- Fit to a completely cold engine and exhaust to avoid burns and to allow accurate alignment of the head pipes and mufflers.
- Leave all fasteners finger-tight until the full system, heat shields and mounting brackets are aligned, then tighten in stages so the pipes are not pulled out of position.
- Handle the chrome with clean gloves during installation; fingerprints and oils baked onto hot chrome can leave permanent stains.
- Before the first ride, wipe the pipes down with a clean, dry cloth to remove any residual oils or packaging film.
- Expect some discolouration near the head pipes over time; this is normal for chrome exhausts run at high temperatures.
- Clean only when the exhaust is cold, using a mild automotive soap and water and a soft cloth, then dry fully to prevent water spots.
- Use a dedicated chrome polish for light staining; avoid abrasive pads, oven cleaners, wheel cleaners or solvent-based degreasers, which can damage the finish.
- Do not spray cold water or pressure-wash a hot exhaust, as thermal shock can discolour or distort the pipes.
- Re-check all mounting hardware and heat shield clamps after the first few hundred kilometres and periodically thereafter, as heat cycling can loosen fasteners.
- Have your fuel management set up appropriately for the system and your engine configuration, and check with a qualified technician regarding local road-use and emissions compliance before riding on the road.
