- Ensure the rim valve hole diameter is compatible before fitment — measure the hole and confirm it matches the valve shank diameter.
- Fit the rubber grommet/seal correctly against the inside of the rim before threading on the locking nut.
- Tighten the locking nut to the manufacturer's specified torque; over-tightening can distort the seal, under-tightening can cause air leaks.
- After fitting, check for leaks by applying soapy water around the base of the valve and watching for bubbles before inflating to riding pressure.
- Always fit a valve cap to keep the valve core free of dirt and moisture, which can cause slow leaks.
- Inspect the rubber seal at each tyre change and replace the valve if the seal shows cracking, flattening, or any sign of degradation.
- Use a valve core tool if the core needs tightening or replacement; do not over-tighten the core.
- Do not use the valve stem as a lever or apply lateral force — bolt-in valves can crack the rim if bent.
