Lightly dust the tube with talcum powder before fitting to reduce friction between the tube and tyre, preventing chafing and pinching.
Ensure the rim tape is intact and covers all spoke nipples before installation to avoid tube abrasion or puncture from sharp edges.
When fitting, partially inflate the tube first so it holds its shape — this helps prevent the tube from being caught and pinched between the tyre bead and rim.
Use plastic tyre levers rather than metal ones where possible to reduce the risk of puncturing the tube during installation.
Check tyre pressure before every ride; correct pressure for the tube's rated size is critical — under-inflation causes excessive flex and heat, leading to premature failure.
After off-road sessions in rocky terrain, inspect the tube (once removed) for small cuts, abrasions, or slow leaks before the next ride.
Store spare tubes away from direct sunlight, ozone sources (electric motors, fluorescent lights), and petroleum-based products, which degrade rubber over time.
Do not re-use a tube that has been repaired multiple times in the same section; replace it outright for reliable performance in demanding conditions.
