Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre fitter — levering a knobby tyre onto a 21-inch rim without the right tools can damage the bead or pinch the tube.
This is a tube-type (TT) tyre: always fit a new inner tube of the correct size, and replace the rim tape and valve if they are worn or damaged.
Check the sidewall for the rotation direction arrow and fit the tyre the correct way around; front and rear patterns are not interchangeable.
If you run low pressures for off-road grip, use rim locks to stop the tyre spinning on the rim and tearing the valve stem.
Scrub in the new tyre with gentle riding for the first several kilometres before hard braking, cornering or full-throttle work, as fresh rubber and mould release leave the surface slippery.
