- Before installation, verify the battery fitment reference against your vehicle's owner's manual or the manufacturer's cross-reference chart to confirm compatibility.
- Inspect terminals and the battery case for damage before fitting; do not install a cracked or leaking battery.
- Connect the positive terminal first and disconnect it last when removing, to reduce the risk of accidental short circuits.
- Keep terminal connections clean and free of corrosion; apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to terminals after fitting if desired.
- For lead acid batteries not supplied pre-charged, charge fully with a compatible battery charger before first use.
- Use only a charger rated for lead acid chemistry and matched to the battery's voltage; do not use a charger intended for lithium chemistry.
- During periods of storage or infrequent use, connect the battery to a maintenance charger (trickle/float charger) to prevent deep discharge, which can permanently reduce capacity.
- Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and sources of heat or ignition; lead acid batteries should not be stored in a fully discharged state.
- Periodically check that the battery is holding charge; a battery that will not hold charge after a full cycle should be replaced.
